Training

Storyline Kids develops specific trainings to support churches, staff and volunteers in their ministry with children.

Creating and Sustaining a Trauma Informed Kids’ Ministry Program

Trauma has been pervasive in our world for a long time; now we’re talking about it!  Faith communities have a unique opportunity to lead the way in sharing the healing love of God with their communities by creating spaces that are trauma informed. This training, focused on children and youth, helps answer the following questions:

  • What is trauma and how does it impact our brains?

  • Why is it important to talk about trauma within the church?

  • How can we support children and youth who have experienced trauma?

  • How do we care for ourselves as we serve and lead?

It provides guidance in applying this knowledge in church settings and gives participants an opportunity to work with their teams and create plans to take back and implement immediately.

Delivered in two 2.5 hour sessions that include time for learning, discussion and planning for implementation all guided by our team.

Developing an Inclusive Children and Youth Ministry Program

Faith communities have a unique opportunity to lead the way and share the healing love of God with their communities by creating spaces that are truly inclusive. This training is focused on answering the questions:

  • What does it mean to be inclusive?

  • Who might be vulnerable to exclusion?

  • How can churches create spaces for children and youth that are truly inclusive?

Delivered in one 2.5 hour session that includes time for learning, discussion and planning for implementation all guided by our team.

Having Faith Conversations with Children

Many adults have wrestled with troubling questions about their faith and/or felt that they had to unlearn things they learned as children. How can we create something different for our children? One key way to help them is to have open and honest faith conversations. Sounds simple enough, but it can be overwhelming and intimidating. This training is focused on equipping any adult that interacts with children to be able to:

  • Be comfortable with questions

  • Understand the importance of being a co-learner, what that means, and how it looks in action

  • Understand the basics of the stages of human development and how that is connected to faith formation

  • Know how to guide a child’s faith journey in practical ways through experiences, questions, and the gift of time

Delivered in one 2.5 hour session that includes time for learning, discussion, and planning for implementation all guided by our team.
